Please read through the answers to some common questions below. If you have any further questions, please contact us.

How do I book? How does it work?

Booking your session online and in advance is the most efficient and preferred way to book your tickets. The booking system is a live system so the availability shown is in real-time. Weekends and holidays are exceptionally busy times, and climbing floor capacity is limited, so booking ahead online ensures your spot is confirmed. We do not recommend dropping in, as this can lead to disappointment if a climbing session is already fully booked.

We do not accept phone reservations without payment. If you call to book over the phone, please note that you will be asked to secure your booking with a payment. Our booking system takes credit card payments only if paying over the phone (or online). In the past, we have had too many instances of people reserving spots by phone (without payment) and then they don't show up on the day, nor advise us they were no longer coming. This takes away spots from people who actually wanted to come climbing.

Can I bring/book my 3 year old to climb?

Our recommendation is that everyone 4 years old and older can climb, meeting the weight requirement (30-330 lbs). Our facility is optimized for climbers aged 8+, and adults, teens and kids of any experience level, are all welcome!

That being said, there are a number of variables to consider with very young participants:

  • Your 3 year old needs to weigh more than 30lbs.

  • Your 3 year old needs to be potty-trained. For hygiene purposes, wearing a diaper under a harness is not permitted.

  • Small size/stature can make it harder to climb certain walls - we only have a small number of 'beginner' type walls.

  • Climbers aged 7 and under typically have small hands and little dexterity, making it difficult to operate the locking mechanism on their own. Adult/parent assistance will be needed for the entire session.

  • Limited experience in a climbing setting may cause intimidation at seeing 28ft walls for the first time.

  • Wearing a harness can bring about an uncomfortable sensation and your 3 year old may refuse to put one on.

  • Climbing up walls is the easy part, the descent with an auto-belay system is a foreign experience and may pose an issue.

  • Some 3 year olds are naturally interested in what older siblings get to participate in, so will want to take part regardless.

  • Some 3 year olds are timid and some are outgoing by nature - you know your child best and how they may process a new environment.

In our experience, we have seen some 3 year olds out-perform older kids in the climbing arena, and some 3 year olds will absolutely refuse to even begin by putting on a harness! If you think your 3 year old is capable of taking part in this climbing activity given consideration of the variables above, you are welcome to try them. You will know in the first 5-10 minutes if your child is eager to pursue the activity, or if they are not ready. If you find they are not quite ready for the experiences we offer, we can certainly refund you in this instance.

How do I cancel, modify or reschedule my booking?

Please email us: hello@clipnclimbedmonton.ca well in advance of your booked time to make the necessary changes. You can try calling our Reception, but it is sometimes hard to get through if staff are busy with in-person guests and are unable to take phone calls.

To cancel a standard climbing session (with refund) or to reschedule, please contact us at least 48 hours before your booked time. Party Package bookings and large group bookings require 7 days advance notice for cancellation with refund. If less notice is given, we can look at rescheduling your booking to a more suitable time, or cancelling with a fee.

I'm not climbing, do I have to pay?

Non-climbers/Parent helpers/Spectators do not pay. Please book tickets for climbers only.

What should I bring? What do I need to climb?

Climbers need to wear clean/indoor closed toed shoes (eg: running shoes) and comfortable clothing. Boots, flip-flops, heels or bare feet cannot be worn in the climbing arena.

Professional style climbing shoes and chalk are NOT permitted.

Long hair should be tied back and any loose jewellery should be removed. Avoid wearing hoodies, clothing with drawstrings, or clothing that restricts your movements.

We provide all the safety equipment you will need. Clip ‘n Climb harnesses must be worn by all climbers.

Strictly no food, gum or beverages are permitted in the climbing arena. You are welcome to bring a water bottle during your climb.

We already completed an online waiver, do I need to fill out a new one each visit?

Online waivers, once completed correctly and submitted, are valid for 12 months and do not need to be completed at every visit.

Online waivers must be completed by an adult climber (18+), or completed by a parent/legal guardian of minors who will be climbing.

* Please note: Your contact information submitted on the waiver form is used solely for the purpose of the waiver form. It is not used for marketing.

I've heard the safety briefing many times before, do I need to hear it every time?

You will be asked in the harnessing area if this is your first visit. If you have attended Clip 'n Climb Edmonton multiple times the instructional component is optional, and you are reminded to take part safely and to follow staff instructions on the floor. It is recommended however to always hear the safety briefing in its entirety each visit, as a refresher, even if you have attended many times before.

Are there food and drinks available to buy?

We are not a dedicated food and beverage supplier, however we do have bottled water, Gatorade, and Clif energy or fruit bars available for purchase. We encourage you to bring your own refillable water bottle. For sanitary reasons we do not have a water fountain onsite, but you can certainly ask Reception to refill your water bottle.

Can we gather for food/cake at the tables in the seating area after we're done our hour of climbing?

When you book a one-hour climbing session you are expected to exit the facility once your climbing activity is completed. Once the climbing session ends, the seating area needs to be turned over to the people who have booked into the next session after yours - our staff will be sanitizing/wiping down tables, and customers for the next session will be looking for tables & chairs to be vacated, so that they may have somewhere to rest & place their belongings.

We allow small snacks (like a granola bar), water and beverages to be consumed at the tables while your attendees are are working up a sweat during the current climbing session, but extended gathering in the seating area with food or cake after the climbing hour is completed is not permitted.

If you are looking to celebrate a birthday/event with room afterwards to gather and consume food or cake, our Party Package bookings offer climbing activity first then party room access afterwards. Please visit the 'Groups & Parties' page for more information, to check availability, and to make a booking.

Do you have lockers?

We have lockers onsite in the Reception area, bring a lock if you wish to use them during your session.

Can I leave my kids there and pick them up at the end of their session?

Children under the age of 13 years need to have a supervising parent/guardian (over 18 years) remain with them onsite.

How many non-climbers/parent-helpers/supervisors will I need to attend with a group?

If you are coming with a group of children, you should aim for a ratio of six children to one adult (6:1) for supervision purposes. Younger children (4-7 years) may need extra help on the climbing floor. If this is the case for your group, adjust your ratio accordingly to accommodate the extra attention those children will need. All adults who are designated as parent-helpers are required to attend the safety briefing and to help their kids to connect the locking mechanism while climbing.

How are you operating with COVID-19 restrictions?

Please refer to the page entitled COVID-19 for all information about how we have been operating to ensure compliance and to keep the facility clean and safe during this time.
